Job Title: Forklift Operator – Automotive Manufacturing
Pay Rate: $17.80 - $18.85
Location: Columbus, IN
About the Role:
We are hiring experienced Forklift Operators to support automotive manufacturing operations. In this role, you will safely move materials, components, and finished goods throughout the facility and to outbound trailers while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with all safety and quality standards.
What You’ll Do:
Pull, load, pack, and transport materials, supplies, and finished goods to designated areas using forklifts and leveling boards
Verify part identification and ensure correct loads are staged and moved
Stack skids, pallets, and baskets in assigned locations
Follow escalation procedures for material discrepancies (including shortages or low-level components)
Empty scrap hoppers, remove cardboard and strapping, and dispose of waste properly throughout shift
Deliver and retrieve containers, empty baskets, and knock-downs (KDs) as needed
Break down pipe racks and transport outside designated areas
Maintain clear and safe aisleways at all times
Conduct pre-shift forklift safety inspections and complete required safety checklists
Operate forklift in compliance with all safety and training standards
Report equipment malfunctions immediately to supervision
Pack and label parts for special shipments as required, including finished goods labeling
Complete daily paperwork accurately and on time
Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including sweeping dock areas and assigned zones
Participate in team activities and continuous improvement efforts
Perform additional duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For:
High School Diploma or GED required
1–3 years of forklift experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment
Valid driver’s license required
Forklift certified and trained (or willingness to complete company training program)
Strong attendance and dependable work history
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Strong basic math, reading, and communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Commitment to safety, quality standards, and ethical workplace practices
Ability to meet production pace and quality expectations
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs
Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and gripping throughout the shift
High level of mental and visual attention required for safety and accuracy
Ability to work overtime as needed, including shifts up to 12 hours and potential 7-day schedules
