Job Title: Packing Tech
Pay Rate: $16.75/hour
Location: Indianapolis, IN 46229
About the Role
We’re hiring Packing Techs to support packing, material handling, and warehouse operations in a hands-on manufacturing environment in Indianapolis. In this role, you’ll prepare finished metal products for shipment, operate a forklift, move materials throughout the facility, and support production while maintaining safety and quality standards. Previous forklift experience is required, and training is provided for additional responsibilities.
What You’ll Do
Pack and prepare finished products for storage or shipment
Safely operate a forklift to move materials and finished products
Transport products between production, warehouse, and storage areas
Load, unload, stage, and move materials based on production needs
Assist with inventory counts and maintain material accuracy
Inspect finished products and materials for quality or damage
Photograph and document damaged materials and report concerns
Deliver completed work orders to the appropriate department
Help maintain an efficient flow of materials throughout production
Communicate material and production needs with team members and leadership
Assist with training new employees as experience develops
Help identify and resolve day-to-day workflow issues
Follow all workplace and equipment safety procedures
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
What We’re Looking For
Previous forklift experience required
Ability to safely and confidently operate a forklift
Warehouse, packing, manufacturing, shipping, receiving, inventory, or material handling experience preferred
Strong attention to detail and product quality
Ability to follow work instructions and production schedules
Strong communication and basic problem-solving skills
Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
Must be 18 years of age or older
Willingness and ability to complete required drug and alcohol testing
Physical Requirements
Ability to regularly lift and move 10–50 pounds
Ability to occasionally assist with heavier materials weighing more than 100 pounds
Ability to stand and walk throughout the shift
Ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as required
Ability to perform repetitive hands-on tasks throughout the workday
Comfortable working around industrial equipment, loud sounds, dust, fumes, and solvents
Comfortable working in temperatures that may vary by season
