Job Title: Transportation Coordinator
Pay Rate: $22/hr
Location: Indianapolis, IN
 

About the Role

We’re hiring a Transportation Coordinator to support daily transportation and logistics operations at a high-volume facility. In this role, you’ll manage routing, scheduling, carrier coordination, and shipment tracking to ensure orders move efficiently and on time. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable working across multiple systems in a fast-paced environment.
 

What You’ll Do

  • Route orders daily in compliance with the transportation route guide to meet requested ship dates and secure carrier capacity
  • Operate the Transportation Management System (TMS) to route orders, monitor carrier performance, and troubleshoot at-risk shipments
  • Ensure all orders comply with shipment weight and method guidelines
  • Coordinate with carriers to schedule inbound and outbound shipments
  • Schedule dock appointments in WMS and collaborate with campus and third-party facility managers on dock capacity
  • Partner with transportation teams to deliver daily and weekly performance metrics
  • Work with Customer Account Specialists, Warehouse, and Transportation teams to resolve scheduling issues
  • Maintain reason codes in SAP for open order status reporting
  • Review prior-day dock schedules to confirm all shipments were completed or rescheduled as needed
  • Collaborate with shipping offices on special shipment requirements
  • Support SOX compliance reporting, including overdue transit receipts and shipment status reports
  • Own daily, weekly, and period service metrics related to transportation performance
  • Cross-train to support additional service center functions as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
 

What We’re Looking For

  • 1–2 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or a related field
  • Degree in Supply Chain or Business preferred
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with SAP, WMS, or TMS systems preferred
  • Strong verbal, written, and listening communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Self-starter who can work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Team-oriented mindset with high standards for accuracy and performance
  • Willingness to work overtime or non-traditional schedules as business needs require
  • Ability to travel up to 5 percent
